This collection showcases some excellent examples of black and white fine art in pencil, pen and ink and scratchboard, of which Walter Jardine was a master in his time.
'Scratchboard' or 'scraperboard' is a medium formed on an art board base coated with white clay, which has a layer of black ink applied over it.  To create an image, small sharp instruments are used to scrape, scratch or cut through to the clay base, with the resulting images skilfully brought to life in intricate detail.
