CRUISE SHIP ADVERTISING

Cruise ship advertising in the 1930's, relied on artistic illustrations of exotic places and peoples to persuade would-be passengers to book their passage and explore new and exciting holiday horizons.

Burns Philp and Orient Line were two shipping lines who commissioned Walter Jardine - 'a prolific ad designer known for his masterful brush work and iconic style' to illustrate many of these adventure cruises of the day.

BURNS PHILP LINE was stablished in 1883 by James Burns and Robert Philp, the Australian company Burns Philp was once among the top shipping, tourist, and trade shipping lines in the South Pacific.
